10 Great Kids' Rooms

Ultimate NASCAR Boy's Room

By Yuki Hayashi

Is your son into race cars? This room carries the toys-for-boys theme to new levels with its over-the-top pit stop theme. As seen in New Kidspace Idea Book, the space features an industrial, garage-inspired bed made from a steel frame and heavy-duty chain.

How To:

This is a project for experienced carpenters only, so if you aren't an avid do-it-yourselfer, consider buying a ready-made racecar-theme bed instead. (Little Tikes makes an inexpensive twin-sized one, sold nationally, for younger boys, while a simple industrial-style metal bed frame, such as one from IKEA’s tubular, powder-coated-steel Heimdal series, will do nicely for tweens and teens.

Rolling toolboxes function as nightstands and stash plenty of essentials.

The finishing touch? A photo mural. Bring a favorite racing photo to a copy or print shop and have it enlarged, whether or not you choose to add the 3D hood in this photo.
